Background information about 'Avoid The Light (Re-Release)'
Long Distance Calling delivers something truly extraordinary with "Avoid The Light" – a mesmerizing journey through atmospheric post-rock landscapes that showcases the German quartet at their most adventurous. This album stands as a testament to their ability to craft cinematic soundscapes that speak volumes without uttering a single word. From the haunting opening of "Apparitions" to the driving rhythms of "Black Paper Planes", each track unfolds like a chapter in an epic story, building tension and releasing it with surgical precision.
The band's mastery shines through tracks like "I Know You, Stanley Milgram!" and "The Nearing Grave", where crushing riffs meet delicate melodies in perfect harmony. The album's emotional core pulses through "Sundown Highway", a track that captures both melancholy and hope in its sweeping arrangements. What makes this release so compelling is how Long Distance Calling manages to create music that feels both intimate and grandiose, weaving together elements of progressive rock, post-metal, and ambient music into something uniquely their own.
