Background information about 'A Dark Poem, Part III: The Messiah Complex'
Twenty-five years into their journey, and Green Carnation still refuse to play it safe. The Norwegian outfit, founded by Emperor's former bassist Tchort, has always walked its own path — weaving symphonic doom, progressive metal, hard rock, and delicate acoustic passages into something unmistakably theirs. But there's one tale that's been haunting them since the beginning. A trilogy. And now, with "A Dark Poem, Part III: The Messiah Complex", they've finally brought it home.
Inspired by Arthur Rimbaud's dreamy ode to Shakespeare's Ophelia, "A Dark Poem" unfolds as a grand, gloomy triptych. Part III delivers the crushing climax: a bold 16-minute orchestral finale that hits with devastating emotional weight. From the black metal fury that drives Part I to the raw, aching ballads of Part II, this closing chapter ties it all together in spectacular fashion. The title track "The Messiah Complex" is a beast of its own — shifting, breathing, refusing to sit still. And the orchestral suite on Side B? Pure catharsis.
This is progressive metal at its most fearless. Green Carnation have added another masterpiece to their storied career, and it resonates down to the very last note.
