Background information about 'A Dark Poem, Part III: The Messiah Complex'

The final chapter of an epic trilogy has arrived. Green Carnation bring "A Dark Poem, Part III: The Messiah Complex" to a close, and holy hell, what a way to finish it. Since their earliest days in the Norwegian underground more than 25 years ago, these pioneers — founded by Emperor's former bassist Tchort — have carved out a space entirely their own. Symphonic doom, hard rock swagger, delicate acoustic passages, and progressive metal complexity all coexist in their world without ever feeling forced. But this trilogy? This was the one that took time. Patience. The kind of vision that can't be rushed.

Inspired by Arthur Rimbaud's dreamy ode to Shakespeare's Ophelia, "A Dark Poem" spans three distinct parts. Part I delivered black metal fury. Part II broke hearts with raw, aching ballads. And now, Part III — "The Messiah Complex" — throws everything into the ring with a bold 16-minute orchestral finale that will leave you breathless. This is Green Carnation at their most ambitious, their most vulnerable, and their most triumphant. The production is lush, the dynamics are staggering, and the emotional weight hits like a freight train. From the first note to the last, this is a band operating at peak creative power, delivering a closing statement that feels both inevitable and utterly surprising.
