Background information about 'Age of Aquarius'

Villagers of Ioannina City have always been something else entirely in the heavy rock universe, and Age of Aquarius is the record that proves it beyond any doubt. Originally unleashed back in September 2019, this second full-length has aged like fine Greek wine - and Napalm Records now brings it back in glorious splatter form. The band from Epirus doesn't just play heavy psychedelic rock, they channel the mountains, the holy rivers and the cosmic weirdness of their homeland straight into the speakers. Bagpipes, flutes and didgeridoos weave through riff-heavy landscapes that feel both ancient and completely fresh at the same time.

From the hypnotic opener Welcome to the sprawling cosmic journey of Sparkle out of Black Hole, this record is a mantra for a new age. Tracks like Age of Aquarius and Father Sun build and swell with a patience that rewards attentive listening, while Dance of Night and Millennium Blues hit with a groove that's impossible to resist. The production captures the raw energy of the band while letting every folk instrument breathe. This is heavy music with a soul, a brain and a heart - the kind of record that makes you want to pack a bag and head for the Greek mountains. An essential reissue for anyone who believes rock can still take you somewhere new.
