Before Emperor became Norwegian black metal royalty, Samoth and Ihsahn were cutting their teeth in the shadowy realm of death metal with Thou Shalt Suffer. This monumental collection unveils the dark genesis of what would become one of extreme metal's most influential partnerships, showcasing three rare recordings from 1991 that reveal a completely different sonic landscape from their later black metal mastery.

"Into The Woods Of Belial" captures Thou Shalt Suffer in their purest death metal form – tenebrous, crushing, and utterly uncompromising. These tracks shift seamlessly between doomy passages and blistering fast sections, driven by Ihsahn's morbid growls that bear no resemblance to his later signature shrieks. The obscure keyboard layers add a sombre atmosphere that transforms each composition into a mandatory feast for devotees of dark metal. What makes this release truly extraordinary is the inclusion of previously unreleased Xerasia and Embryonic material from 1990, marking the very first time this ancient material has seen the light of day. Completely remastered from original tapes by Patrick W. Engel at the Temple of Disharmony, this ultimate edition features a thick booklet with unpublished photos and an extensive interview with Samoth.
