THY CATAFALQUE · Alföld + Live Burial Budapest | 2CD

Double CD in jewel case with 20-page booklet.

Background information about 'Alföld + Live Burial Budapest'

Tamás Kátai has never been a man who sits still, and "Alföld" proves it once more. Meaning "The Earth," this record reaches back toward the heavy, riff-driven roots of Thy Catafalque while dragging those old instincts straight into the future. The guitars bite harder here than they have in years, yet the songwriting keeps slipping sideways into folk melodies, strange electronic textures and rhythms that refuse to sit in any comfortable pocket. It is avant-garde metal the way it should be: restless, curious, and completely unbothered by genre borders.

What makes this double disc such a treat is the second half. "Live Burial Budapest" captures the project on stage, and the transformation is thrilling. Tracks that felt intricate and layered in the studio suddenly breathe fire, the band locking in tight while Kátai's vision sprawls out in every direction. The Hungarian titles roll off the tongue like incantations, and the live mix keeps every detail sharp without sanding off the raw edges. It is the sound of a project that has spent decades evolving and still sounds like nothing else on the planet.
