Background information about 'Mio'

Enslaved have spent over three decades refusing to sit still, and “Mio” is the sound of a band still hungry, still searching, still capable of leaving you breathless. Where other veterans settle into comfortable repetition, these Norwegians keep pushing the boundaries of what black metal can be — and this record feels like a statement of intent from the very first note.

The album moves between searing, ice-cold ferocity and moments of startling, almost cosmic beauty. The riffs spiral and shift, the rhythms lurch from blasting intensity into hypnotic, progressive passages, and the vocals swing between raw, rasping fury and clean, soaring melody. It is that push-and-pull — the tension between chaos and clarity, between the ancient and the futuristic — that has always made Enslaved so special, and “Mio” leans into it with total conviction.

There is a genuinely epic sweep to this thing. Songs breathe and expand, building towering atmospheres that feel both Nordic and otherworldly. The production is huge, letting every layer of guitar, every keyboard wash and every drum fill hit with real weight. This is not background music; this is the kind of album that demands your full attention and rewards it ten times over. Enslaved have made another record that stands proudly alongside the finest work of their career, and it is thrilling to hear a band this deep into their journey still operating at such a high level.
