Background information about 'Herald The Unsung'
Triumphant delivers a relentless assault of old-school blackened thrash on "Herald The Unsung", an album that feels like it was forged in the fires of the early extreme metal underground. The German outfit channels the raw intensity of the genre's formative years, crafting nine tracks that bristle with primal energy and unholy atmosphere. From the ominous "Triumfator (Intro)" to the crushing finale of the self-titled track, this is metal stripped down to its most essential elements - savage riffs, thunderous drums, and vocals that sound like they're emanating from the depths of hell itself.
What makes this album particularly compelling is how Triumphant manages to capture that authentic 80s and early 90s extreme metal spirit without sounding like mere copycats. Tracks like "Nachzehrer" and "Life Under The Inverted Cross" showcase the band's ability to weave together the aggressive tempos of thrash with the dark mysticism of black metal, while "Fullmoon Over Transylvania" pays homage to the genre's Transylvanian obsessions with genuine reverence rather than pastiche. The production maintains that raw, unpolished edge that made the original wave of extreme metal so visceral and immediate.
