Background information about 'Reveries Before Silence'

With "Reveries Before Silence", Twice A Man hand us a lyrical and musical antidote to the conflicts, rifts and other ills that plague modern societies — and they do it with a beat you can actually move to. The Swedish duo invites you onto a collective dancefloor fuelled by electronic pulses and melodies that stick to your ribs long after the last note fades. That is not escapism, and they would be the first to say so. They know the world is burning, the natural world is in grave danger, and societies are under siege from powers driven by greed and inflated egos. Dancing, here, is a way of healing body and soul while keeping both eyes wide open.

Vocalist, guitarist and keyboard player Dan Söderqvist teamed up with synth player Karl Gasleben back in 1977, and before they settled on the name Twice A Man they were Cosmic Overdose, widely regarded as the first electronic band in Scandinavia. You can hear that lineage all over this record: gentle echoes of Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze and especially The Human League, plus the warmth that has always set them apart. Someone once called them "Ultravox on weed — melancholic, but without the saccharine pathos", and honestly, that still nails it. Field recordings and sounds of the natural world have been woven into their music since the early Eighties, and more than four decades on, they remain as active and progressive as ever. "Reveries Before Silence" sets a new benchmark for intelligent electronic pop.
