Background information about 'Interwoven'
Uada returns with their most introspective and haunting work yet on "Interwoven", a mesmerizing tapestry of atmospheric black metal that weaves together the band's signature melodic darkness with unexpected emotional depth. The Portland quartet has crafted something truly special here – six tracks that feel like chapters in a deeply personal journey through shadow and light. From the hypnotic opener "Djinn" to the crushing weight of "The Dark Winter", each song builds upon the last, creating an immersive experience that showcases the band's evolved songwriting prowess.
What makes this release particularly fascinating is the bold choice to include covers of Rome's "Der Brandtaucher" and Nirvana's "Something In The Way" – two seemingly disparate influences that Uada transforms into something entirely their own. The way they channel Kurt Cobain's melancholy through their black metal lens is nothing short of brilliant, while their interpretation of Rome's neofolk creates an unexpected bridge between genres. "The Purging Fire" stands as perhaps their most powerful composition to date, a seven-minute odyssey that perfectly encapsulates everything that makes this band essential listening.
