Background information about 'Under The Church'
Under The Church's self-titled EP is a ferocious testament to the raw power of death metal. Carving its niche in the brutal soundscape of underground metal, this release encapsulates the essence of old-school death metal with its gritty riffs and relentless drumming. Tracks like "Denial Of Death" and "Macabre Cadaver" feature dark themes and aggressive musicality that evoke the primal energy of early 90s death metal. Each song is a visceral experience, blending haunting melodies with guttural vocals to create an atmosphere steeped in morbidity.
The production quality is unpolished yet powerful, a fitting homage to the genre's roots. Recorded across various locations from Reykjavik to Sweden, the album showcases a raw authenticity that transports listeners back to a time when death metal was at its most primal. With contributions from seasoned musicians like Erik Qvick on drums and guitar and Mik Annetts' commanding vocal delivery, Under The Church not only pays tribute to their influences but also carves out their own path in the pantheon of death metal legends.
