Swedish death metal legends Dismember returned in 2000 with their fifth full-length offering, delivering a brutal yet melodically infused assault that showcased the band's evolution while staying true to their crushing roots."Hate Campaign" is the 5th full-length studio album by Swedish death metal act Dismember. The album was released through Nuclear Blast Records in January 2000.Many changes within the Dismember camp for the bands 5th full length album Hate Campaign. This does not feature the classic line-up: Matti Kärki, Fred Estby, David Blomqvist, Richard Cabeza and Robert Sennebäck. Also no Robert Sennebäck (guitar) on this album that departed ways with Dismember in 1997 and was replaced with Magnus Sahlgren (Lake Of Tears etc.).This was also the first time the band didn't record in the Sunlight Studios where they had been recording since the Reborn In Blasphemy (1990) demo.The album presentsa mix of old school Swedish death metal and melodic death metal not too far removed for the early Swedish melodeath scene.It is this album that is an unobtrusive combination of a headbanging old school and a series of catchy melodies and solos, half an hour, eleven tracks, nothing superfluous.While some critics initially dismissed it,with such quality present, it pains me to see this album get no real praise... Chainsaw guitar tone that's loud, burly, and proud, a hefty bass support backing up the riffs, some aggressive Estby-taking-no-shit drumming, Kärki's coarse growls, and emotionally-charged harmonic leadsmake this a worthy addition to their catalog.Despite my expectations, they prove once again here that they are one of the more consistent forces in death metal, as they unleash another sonic manifestation of hatred and fury with Hate Campaign. The melodies here are quire pronounced, adding a sense of power to the pure aggression presented through each track.For fans of:
