Background information about 'Dismember'

Swedish death metal legends Dismember delivered their final statement with this self-titled opus, and what a crushing farewell it turned out to be.Released as their eighth studio album in February 2008, this would mark their last recording before an eight-year hiatus, making it all the more precious for fans of uncompromising death metal brutality. The album drives "an iron fist of supreme death metal"that showcases the band at their most refined yet savage, perfectly balancing the melodic elements they'd explored throughout their career with the raw aggression that made them legends. The sound harks back to their iconic debut "Like an Ever Flowing Stream" while incorporating the melodic elements and mid-paced grooves they'd developed over their long career, giving listeners "the best of Dismember". Tracks like "Death Conquers All" and "Under A Blood Red Sky" showcasethrash metal influences and instantly headbanging aggression, while the production maintains that signature Swedish chainsaw guitar tone that made the Stockholm scene legendary. The sound production is "raw, powerful, and detailed", creating the perfect sonic backdrop for Matti Kärki's growling vocals and the band's trademark melodic brutality.
