Background information about 'A Pathway To The Moon'

There is a moment on "A Pathway To The Moon" where the guitars stop roaring and a clean voice simply floats upward, and you realize Unreqvited has quietly become something else entirely. Mastermind 鬼 (Ghost) has spent years building cathedrals of blackgaze — walls of shimmering tremolo, ambient drift, post-rock patience — but this seventh album is where he finally steps out from behind the noise and sings. Written with live stages in mind after the project grew into a touring band, these seven tracks breathe like a setlist, each one reaching for a chorus instead of dissolving into texture. The anthemic sweep of the Mosaic era is still here, the melancholy of Disquiet still hums underneath, and the orchestral weight of Empathica still presses on your chest — but now there are hooks, real ones, and they land hard.

What makes it thrilling is how unafraid it is. Where Beautiful Ghosts teased brighter passages between the dark turns, this record commits to them fully, letting light pour through the cracks without ever losing the fangs. It plays like a soundtrack to something vast and cold and beautiful — fitting, then, that the artbook edition closes with a cover of Hans Zimmer's "Cornfield Chase" from Interstellar, a nod that says everything about the scale this Canadian is chasing. It is the most song-based, most human, most reachable Unreqvited has ever sounded, and somehow that makes it hit harder, not softer. Put the headphones on, turn it up, and let it carry you out past the atmosphere.
