Background information about 'Shanderilan'

"Shanderilan" arrives like a long-awaited letter from an old friend who never quite left your thoughts. VELJANOV — the unmistakable baritone behind DEINE LAKAIEN — returns after an extended silence, and the wait has clearly sharpened something. This fourth solo album moves with the confidence of an artist who no longer needs to prove anything, layering rich, multi-textured arrangements beneath that dark, seductive voice. One moment you are wrapped in refined beauty, the next the songs bare their teeth in barely concealed anger, then drift into a mesmerising darkness that feels almost hypnotic. And when a track opens up into an epic hymn, you simply surrender.

The production is the result of an intensive collaboration between Alexander Veljanov and Goran Trajkoski, the renowned Macedonian composer who also handles guitar duties in the band. You can hear that chemistry in every corner of the record — nothing feels padded, everything breathes. Veljanov's voice remains the centre of gravity: deep, resonant, warm, velvety, gliding into higher registers without ever losing that characteristic timbre. It is a sound that has aged like fine wood, richer and more resonant with each passing year.

This edition is a beauty in its own right: a 2-CD hardcover book, 18 x 18 cm, 60 pages, with an exclusive bonus CD holding three bonus tracks, additional photographs and liner notes. For anyone who has followed this voice since the late nineties, this is a genuine homecoming. Welcome back, indeed.
