What happens when black metal pioneers Venom lose their legendary frontman Cronos but refuse to bow out? You get "Prime Evil" – a thunderous testament to the band's unbreakable spirit and a record that Metal Hammer rightfully ranks in the Top 5 Venom albums of all time. This 1989 powerhouse emerged from the ashes of the band's temporary split, with drummer Abaddon recruiting former Atomkraft dynamo Tony 'The Demolition Man' Dolan to fill the massive void left behind.

Far from being a mere placeholder release, "Prime Evil" roars with renewed fury and surprising sophistication. The imperious title track sets the tone with its crushing riffs, while "Blackened Are the Priests" delivers wild melodrama that'll send chills down your spine.
