From the ominous Prologue that sets a ritualistic tone, the band waste no time launching into the title track, a blistering manifesto of speed-driven riffage and snarling vocals that feels like a call to arms from some forgotten underground bunker. The second half of the album is where things get really interesting. Flames of Udun dips into a more epic, almost Tolkien-esque grandeur (yes, that Udun), while Legion Kondor and At the Helm of the Pack channel a warlike ferocity that brings to mind the raw energy of early Bathory meeting the galloping precision of classic Teutonic metal. Tracks like Nekropola Tiranov and the sprawling Zloba II reveal a band that isn't afraid to stretch out and explore darker, more atmospheric territory without losing an ounce of their savage edge. It's rare to find a record that balances this much aggression with such a strong sense of songcraft, but Vigilance pulls it off with the swagger of a band that knows exactly who they are and what they're here to destroy.
