Background information about 'Friends Of Hell'
"Friends Of Hell," the sophomore album by Witchfinder General, is a testament to the raw and authentic spirit of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). Released in 1983, this album encapsulates the band's gritty sound and pioneering doom metal influences. The opening track "Love On Smack" sets a grim tone with its haunting melodies and powerful riffs that carry throughout the album. Each track is a journey through dark themes of despair and rebellion, all anchored by the distinct vocals and heavy guitar work that define the band.
The album's title track "Friends Of Hell" showcases their ability to blend eerie atmospheres with headbanging rhythms. The balance between slower, doom-laden passages and high-energy segments keeps listeners engaged from start to finish. With tracks like "Requiem For Youth" and "I Lost You," Witchfinder General solidifies their place in metal history with music that is both reflective and relentless. This reissue on black vinyl offers fans a chance to experience the album's raw power in its most authentic form.
