The story of Elephant Tree begins in 2013 in the grimy back alleys of London, where the first notes of what would become "Attack of the Altaica" emerged from Jack Townley's bass and Sam Hart's drums. It's wonderfully fitting that this earliest demo opens their new rarities collection "Handful of Ten", showcasing the infectious blend of warm, syrupy fuzz and soaring vocal harmonies that would define their sound. This demo quickly led to a record deal and their acclaimed debut "Theia" in September 2014, which received excellent reception from critics and fans alike.

Looking back at a decade of musical evolution, "Handful of Ten" serves as both a celebration and a bridge between eras. The collection pulls together great tunes from their archive alongside brash new tracks, creating what the band proudly calls "all thriller, no filler." After the label troubles that left their third album "Habits" (2020) without proper support, Elephant Tree have found a new home with Magnetic Eye Records, ensuring their unique brand of melodic doom reaches both longtime followers and new converts. This compilation perfectly captures the band's journey from those early London rehearsal spaces to their current status as masters of melodic doom metal.
