Six years after "Sacrifice Your Future", Bavarian thrashers White Mantis return with "Arrows at the Sun", their second full-length that continues the path they've carved since drummer Thomas Taube and bassist Jan Strobl joined in 2016 and 2018 respectively. The band has refined their sophisticated approach to songwriting, with bassist Jan Strobl explaining that while rooted in classic thrash metal, the new songs incorporate quirky, chaotic, and progressive influences thanks to the diverse backgrounds of the members. This openness to varied songwriting approaches has resulted in a collection that tackles sociopolitical themes, technology criticism, and skepticism about progress, while also exploring spirituality and death as life's great mystery.
