Background information about 'Valfar, Ein Windir'
Windir's double-disc compilation "Valfar, Ein Windir" is a tribute to the immense talent and legacy of Terje Bakken, also known as Valfar. As an homage to the late frontman's visionary contributions to Black Metal infused with Folk and Viking elements, this release collects some of the band's most iconic tracks alongside rare recordings and live performances. The album's raw intensity is a testament to its groundbreaking sound that seamlessly marries traditional Scandinavian folk motifs with aggressive metal riffs.
The compilation not only highlights Windir's musical prowess but also offers a glimpse into the evolution of the band from their early days up until Valfar's untimely passing in 2004. Each track resonates with an emotional depth that transcends typical genre boundaries, making it both a commemorative piece for long-time fans and an introduction for new listeners eager to explore this unique blend of atmospheric metal.
