With Crypt of Ancestral Knowledge, the Weaver brothers return to the fray with a ferocity that feels both ancient and utterly immediate — like a storm you can see gathering on the horizon, crackling with something older than memory itself.

This EP is a masterclass in controlled savagery. Right from the opening cascade of Beholden To Clan, the band locks into that signature whirlwind of tremolo-picked fury and thunderous, ritualistic drumming that has defined their sound for two decades. But there's something sharper here, a renewed sense of purpose. The production is crystalline without ever feeling sterile — every blastbeat hits like a fist against the sternum, every cascading guitar melody spirals outward like smoke from a forest fire. Twin Mouthed Spring in particular showcases the band's uncanny ability to weave moments of almost transcendent beauty into the chaos, those shimmering, cascading riffs that feel less like notes and more like weather patterns moving across the Pacific Northwest sky.

The B-side deepens the ritual. Initiates Of The White Hart builds with an almost ceremonial patience before erupting into a maelstrom of double-kick fury and Nathan Weaver's unmistakable howl — a voice that sounds less like a human being and more like the earth itself splitting open. And then comes Crown Of Stone, a track that closes the EP on a note of absolute, crushing majesty. The riffs here are monolithic, almost doom-laden in their weight, yet still carrying that unmistakable melodic DNA that makes Wolves In The Throne Room so much more than just another black metal band. This is music that feels rooted in soil and stone, in old-growth forests and the endless cycle of decay and rebirth.
