Background information about 'A Void Within Existence'

There are records that simply exist, and then there are records that pull you down into something far deeper. Abigail Williams' A Void Within Existence is very much the latter — a sprawling, emotionally charged slab of atmospheric black metal and melodic death metal that feels less like an album and more like a slow descent into some beautifully desolate underworld. Ken Sorceron has always been a restless spirit, and here he's assembled a lineup that knows exactly how to make every riff, every blast beat, every aching melody count.

The production, handled by the mighty Dave Otero at Flatline Audio, is nothing short of stunning. The guitars shimmer with that cold, crystalline clarity while the drums hit like a storm rolling across a frozen plain. There's real texture here — cello performed by Christopher Brown and Kakophonix weaves through the chaos, adding an almost cinematic weight to tracks like Talk To Your Sleep and the crushing No Less Than Death. And then there's the guest solo from the legendary James Murphy on opener Life Disconnected, a moment that'll have any death metal head grinning from ear to ear.

What makes this album stick, though, is the balance. Void Within and Nonexistence are relentless, but they never lose sight of melody. Still Nights breathes, Embrace The Chasm swells and crashes like a tide of despair, and by the time the nine-minute closer rolls around you're left genuinely moved. This is an album to sit with, to let wash over you, not just to skip through. It rewards patience in the best possible way.
