ABORYM · Kali Yuga Bizarre | CLEAR/BLUE SPLATTER LP

Milky clear blue splatter vinyl in standard cover.

Background information about 'Kali Yuga Bizarre'

Some records don't just age well, they get meaner with every passing year. "Kali Yuga Bizarre" is exactly that kind of beast. Originally unleashed in 1999 as Aborym's debut, it still lands like a boot to the chest, and this reissue finally drags the whole glorious mess back onto wax where it belongs. This is the sound of a band refusing to pick a lane and then setting fire to all of them at once.

The lineup alone tells you something wild is about to happen. Vocalist Yorga, bassist and effects sorcerer Malfeitor Fabban, guitarists Sethlans and Nisrok, plus none other than Attila Csihar lending his otherworldly throat to three tracks. Yes, that Attila Csihar. The industrial refrains lurking in "Horrenda Peccata Christi" hint at the machine-driven chaos to come, but make no mistake, the core here is pure, untamed Black Metal. "Hellraiser" blasts with futuristic menace, while "Roma Divina Urbs" suddenly opens up into clean choral grandeur, an Emperor-sized anthem that stops you cold. Then "Tantra Bizarre" detonates as a breakbeat instrumental and "Come Thou Long Expected Jesus" welds a somber hymnal to spoken word heresy, proving these Italians understood dynamics long before it became fashionable. "Metal Striken Terror Action" brings the Death/Thrash hammer down before "The First Four Trumpets" closes the ritual in symphonic flames. Still the finest Black Metal album Italy has ever produced.
