Some records don't just sit in a genre — they kick the door in and redecorate the whole room. "Kali Yuga Bizarre", the 1999 debut from Italy's Aborym, is exactly that kind of record: a black metal album that refuses to behave, one that drags industrial pulses, breakbeats and heretical spoken word straight into the middle of a blasting, frostbitten storm. This is the sound of a band who understood that extremity isn't only about speed — it's about atmosphere, tension and the sheer audacity to do the unexpected.

The lineup alone tells you something special is happening here. Vocalist Yorga, bassist and effects wizard Malfeitor Fabban, guitarists Sethlans and Nisrok, and — lending his unmistakable presence to three tracks — none other than Attila Csihar, the voice most of us first met through Mayhem. Tracks like "Horrenda Peccata Christi" lace their fury with industrial refrains, while "Hellraiser" stalks forward with futuristic menace before erupting into pure blasting chaos. "Roma Divina Urbs" offers a moment of Emperor-like grandeur with clean choral passages that hit like a cold gust of wind, and the instrumental "Tantra Bizarre" proves the band can unsettle you just as effectively without a single distorted riff. Then "Metal Stricken Terror Action" barrels in with a death/thrash assault before "The First Four Trumpets" closes the whole ritual in symphonic fashion.

More than twenty-five years on, this still sounds like nothing else Italy — or anyone else, for that matter — has produced. A genuine classic, back where it belongs.
