Background information about 'Season of Bloodshed'
Aether Realm are back, and they mean business. "Season of Bloodshed" finds the North Carolina melodic death metal outfit sharper, heavier and more multifaceted than ever before. This is a band that has been through the wringer since their 2020 record Redneck Vikings From Hell — a global pandemic, the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Helene, and a lineup shift that saw guitarist Donny Burbage depart while Chris Jones stepped in. All of that weight pours straight into this album. It's about change, anger, and how life-altering events reshape the way you see the world, and you can feel every bit of that friction in the music.
What makes Season of Bloodshed so compelling is how Aether Realm channel those struggles into something forward-looking rather than bitter. The trademark complex melodies and technically demanding guitar work are very much intact, but there's a darker, harder edge cutting through the whole record now. New influences creep into the mix without ever drowning out what made this band special in the first place. The result is an album that documents real growth — heavier, angrier in places, yet still unmistakably Aether Realm. If you've followed this band from the beginning, you'll hear exactly where they've been and where they're headed next. This is a fresh chapter, and it opens with a roar.
