Background information about 'Throes'
Allochiria have always been a band that refuses to sit still, and "Throes" is the sound of that restlessness turned into something genuinely gripping. The Greek outfit built their reputation on a post-metal backbone that could snap into blackened fury at any moment, and here they push that tension further than ever. Guitars coil and release like held breath, drums tumble forward with real weight, and the vocals shift from a wounded howl to a whisper without ever feeling like a gimmick. It is heavy, yes, but it is heavy in the way a storm is heavy — you feel the pressure long before it breaks.
What makes "Throes" stick with you is the patience. Nothing here is rushed for the sake of a quick payoff. Songs breathe, stretch, and then land their blows exactly when you stopped bracing for them. There is a bleak beauty running through the whole record, the kind that rewards repeated listens and late-night headphones. Allochiria sound like a band who know precisely what they want to say and how to say it loudly, and this album is the strongest argument yet that they belong in the conversation with the best of European extreme music.
