Background information about 'Sacrificial / Feasting The Beast'
Holy grail alert! Amon's legendary demos "Sacrificial" and "Feasting The Beast" are finally back on wax, and man, does this feel like Christmas morning for death metal archaeologists. These aren't just any old demos - we're talking about the primordial ooze that would eventually spawn Deicide, featuring the Hoffman brothers in their rawest, most unhinged form. Originally unleashed in the late 80s, these recordings capture the exact moment when Florida's swamps started bubbling with something truly sinister, laying the groundwork for what would become one of the most influential death metal scenes ever.
The remastering job by Dan Swanö at Unisound brings new life to these ancient blasphemies without sanitizing their lo-fi charm. Tracks like "Lunatic of God's Creation" and "Sacrificial Suicide" hit with the same crushing intensity that made them underground legends, while the production maintains that perfect balance between clarity and that essential murky atmosphere. You can practically smell the Florida humidity seeping through your speakers as these ten tracks of pure malevolence unfold, showcasing the blueprint that countless bands would follow in the decades to come.
For fans of: Deicide, Death, Morbid Angel, Obituary and Nocturnus
