Background information about 'Rvbicon'
"Rvbicon" stands as a testament to Ancient Rites' evolution and mastery after nearly two decades in the metal underground. This Belgian outfit has been pushing boundaries since 1988, crafting a unique blend that weaves together black metal's ferocity with folk melodies, death metal brutality, Viking themes, and even power metal grandeur. The album showcases the band's matured songwriting while maintaining their signature ancestral worship and historical fascination that has defined their career.
The ten tracks on "Rvbicon" demonstrate Ancient Rites' ability to create multi-faceted compositions that honor their past while boldly stepping into new territories. From the crusading fervor of "Crvsade" and "Templar" to the ancient battlefield epic "Thermopylae", each song tells stories of historical significance with both musical and lyrical depth. The band's willingness to experiment shines through tracks like "Mithras" and the title track, proving that their commitment to progression never comes at the expense of their core identity.
