Seven years after their last full-length, Angel of Damnation return with "Ethereal Blasphemy", a crushing testament to their unwavering dedication to traditional doom metal. This third album finds the German quartet reasserting their ancient powers with the same majestic heaviness that has defined their sound since 2003. Featuring longtime scene veterans including Nocturnal/Front Beast mainman Avenger on guitar and prolific vocalist Gerrit Mutz (Sacred Steel, Battleroar, Dawn of Winter) under his Doomcult Messiah moniker, the band delivers an album that feels like some lost relic of the NWOBHM era.

From the opening track "Eternal Life in Hell" to the provocatively titled closer "Anal Worship of the Goatlord", Angel of Damnation lumber forward with the proud poise of titans, creating an almost relaxed gait that's relatively unique for doom metal. The album maximizes the balance between hook and atmosphere, exuding heaviness even when the riffs aren't strictly crushing.
