Background information about 'Sventevith (Storming Near The Baltic) (Metal Blade)'

Before Behemoth became the blackened death metal titans we know today, there was "Sventevith (Storming Near The Baltic)" – a raw, uncompromising testament to the band's pagan black metal origins. This 1995 debut captures Nergal and company in their most primitive form, delivering nine tracks of atmospheric black metal that feels like ancient spirits awakening from Baltic forests. The album's mystical aura and folkloric themes create an otherworldly experience that transports listeners to pre-Christian Poland.

What makes this reissue absolutely essential is the treasure trove of bonus material spanning over a decade of Behemoth's evolution. From the rare Sventevith bonus tracks to live recordings from legendary venues like Riviera Remont in Warsaw, this collection chronicles the band's journey from underground black metal cult to extreme metal royalty. The inclusion of tracks from their "Helevorn" demo adds historical depth, while live performances from 1996 showcase the raw energy that made Behemoth underground legends.
