Background information about 'Subconscious Terror'

There is a moment on "Subconscious Terror" where Benediction stop being a promising young band and simply become a problem for everyone else. Originally let loose in 1990 on Nuclear Blast, this debut still lands like a brick through a window: raw, ugly in the best possible way, and completely unbothered by the idea of being tasteful. The riffs are built for the pit, the drums hammer away without mercy, and the vocals sit somewhere between a growl and a threat. It is death metal with dirt under its fingernails, and that is exactly why it has aged so beautifully.

What makes this reissue genuinely exciting is the care behind it. Cosmic Key Creations have gone back to the original first press for the artwork, restoring pictures and details that later editions quietly dropped, and the whole thing has been given an updated vinyl master. So you get the same filthy energy, just with the low end finally doing what it was always supposed to do. The record sounds like a basement, a rehearsal room and a very loud night out all at once, and the tracklist runs like a greatest-hits of early UK extremity. From the creeping intro into the title track, through the relentless drive of "Artefacted Irreligion", right down to the closing crush of "Confess All Goodness", there is not a wasted second here.
