Background information about 'Carnivore'

"Carnivore" is the seventh studio album by Body Count, the iconic rap-metal band fronted by Ice-T. Released in 2020, the album continues the band's tradition of delivering hard-hitting tracks both musically and lyrically. With a sound that's aggressively raw, "Carnivore" showcases an array of Slayer-like guitar riffs that unleash a ferocious sonic assault. Ice-T's lyrical prowess shines through as he tackles a variety of contentious subjects with his characteristic candor. Themes of black-on-black crime, police brutality, and gang culture are explored with a sharp tongue and a refusal to shy away from political incorrectness. This audacity is what makes Body Count stand out as a band that is unapologetically bold.

Adding depth to "Carnivore" are several noteworthy collaborations that elevate the album's impact. Riley Gale of Power Trip (R.I.P.), Jamey Jasta from Hatebreed, and Amy Lee of Evanescence lend their talents to this explosive project. The track "When I'm Gone," featuring Amy Lee, serves as one of the album’s highlights with its emotive delivery and haunting melody. The limited release of "Carnivore" on various colored vinyl versions ensures that collectors and fans alike have something unique to cherish from this provocative body of work. This album is not only a testament to Body Count's enduring presence in the metal sphere but also a reminder of their mastery in merging social commentary with relentless musical energy.
