There are albums that simply refuse to die, and "Gallery of Suicide" is one of them. Released in 1998, right as nu-metal was busy flattening everything with downtuned bounce and baggy shorts, Cannibal Corpse doubled down on the exact opposite: pure, unrelenting, traditional death metal played with a level of technical savagery that still makes your neck hurt just thinking about it. This is the sixth studio record from the Tampa titans, and it's the moment the band pushed their sound into something genuinely "ultra-brutal" — denser, more complex, more surgically precise, but never losing that gut-punch groove that makes you want to slam into a wall.

Fourteen tracks of total aggression, and not a single second wasted. From the lurching menace of the title track to the razor-wire riffing that runs through the whole thing, this is death metal as a physical force. And then there's "From Skin to Liquid" — a pure instrumental that proves these guys aren't just about blasting your face off, they can actually play. Seriously, that track is a masterclass in atmosphere and restraint buried inside an album that otherwise wants to eat you alive. It's the sound of a band at their absolute peak, refusing to compromise, refusing to soften, keeping the old school alive while everyone else was chasing radio play.

This picture disc edition is a thing of twisted beauty. Vince Locke's infamous artwork — that morbid, explicit, gorgeously grotesque cover — is pressed directly onto the vinyl itself, turning the record into a display piece as much as a listening experience. You spin it, you stare at it, you probably shouldn't leave it out where the neighbors can see it. This is essential, nasty, glorious death metal history, and it has never looked this good.
