Background information about 'Embalmed In Decay'
Berlin's Carnal Tomb have crafted something absolutely ferocious with "Embalmed in Decay" – their third full-length that stands as a testament to why old school death metal refuses to stay buried. This isn't just another retro worship album; it's a masterclass in how to honor the past while carving out your own bloody niche. The band has tightened their songwriting considerably, delivering shorter, more focused tracks that hit like a sledgehammer to the skull, all while maintaining those signature doom-laden passages that made their previous efforts so compelling.
What sets this release apart is its literary depth – drawing inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft's cosmic horror and the grotesque imagery of Italian putridariums, where corpses were left to decompose in open chambers. This morbid fascination bleeds through every riff and growl, creating an atmosphere that's both intellectually stimulating and viscerally brutal. The production captures that perfect balance of clarity and filth, allowing each blast beat and tremolo-picked melody to cut through the mix like a rusty blade. From the haunting "Intro" to the devastating title track, Carnal Tomb prove they're not just students of death metal history – they're actively writing its next chapter.
