There is a moment on "Dawn of a New Epoch" where the riffs stop circling and simply lunge, and you realize Cidesphere have been holding something back the whole time. The band's debut full-length is a love letter to the grimmest corners of death metal — the kind that smells of rehearsal rooms, tape hiss and cheap beer — yet it never feels like a museum piece. Every tremolo-picked passage has dirt under its fingernails, every blastbeat lands like a slammed door. What lifts this record above the pile is the songwriting: these are actual songs, with hooks buried in the murk and a sense of dynamics that most bands in this lane forget to pack.
The production deserves a shout too. It is raw without being muddy, letting the low end rumble while the guitars cut through like rusted blades. Tracks shift gears constantly — a doom-laden crawl one minute, a full-throttle assault the next — and the whole thing hangs together with the confidence of a band that knows exactly what it wants to be. It is nasty, it is catchy, and it is over before you are ready to let it go.
