Background information about 'Above'
Code Orange returns with their crushing new album "Above", a relentless sonic assault that pushes the boundaries of hardcore and metal into uncharted territory. The band continues their evolution from their earlier metalcore roots, incorporating elements of industrial noise, electronic textures, and crushing breakdowns that feel both futuristic and primitively heavy. The album showcases the band's ability to seamlessly blend crushing riffs with atmospheric passages, creating a sound that's both accessible and utterly uncompromising.
This release finds Code Orange at their most confident and experimental, with tracks that range from blistering hardcore anthems to more nuanced compositions that explore the darker corners of heavy music. The production is pristine yet maintains the raw energy that has made them one of the most exciting acts in modern hardcore. Each song feels carefully crafted while maintaining the chaotic energy that defines their live performances, making "Above" a perfect representation of where heavy music is heading in 2023.
