There are moments in metal history where you can literally hear a band discovering itself in real time, and Death Cult is exactly that kind of sacred artifact. Before Coroner became the razor-sharp, impossibly technical force that would terrorize the thrash underground, they were just three Swiss kids chasing a sound they hadn't quite caught yet. And this demo is the raw, beautiful mess of that chase.

What makes Death Cult so electrifying is the collision of worlds happening in these four tracks. You've got Tommy T. Baron and Ron Royce already flexing that absurdly tight rhythmic muscle that would later define them, but there's a looseness here, a freewheeling joy, that's almost endearing. And then there's the secret weapon: Tom G. Warrior of Celtic Frost himself stepping in to handle vocals and lyrics on three of the four songs. Hearing that unmistakable, gravel-throated growl draped over Coroner's embryonic riffwork is a time-capsule moment you just don't get anywhere else in metal. The instrumental "Aerial Combat" is a glimpse of the future, all spiraling leads and precognition of the greatness to come.

This edition is a labor of love. Remastered and restored by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony in February 2026, cut by SST Germany on Neumann machines, it's the definitive audiophile presentation of an eternal classic. The packaging is absurdly generous, a heavy 425gsm cover, lyric sheet, an eight-page booklet, a photo card, inserts and not one but two posters. For anyone who worships at the altar of old-school thrash, Death Cult is ground zero, and it has never sounded this alive.
