Background information about 'The Resurrectionists'
Crippled Black Phoenix delivers a haunting masterpiece with "The Resurrectionists", an album that stands as testament to the band's ability to craft endtime ballads that blur the lines between archaic beauty and modern darkness. This 2009 release showcases the collective's unique approach to progressive post-rock, weaving together Victorian-era sensibilities with contemporary musical exploration in ways that feel both timeless and utterly fresh.
The album's eleven tracks create a sonic journey through literary historical tales and deeply personal narratives of loss and love. From the epic eight-minute opener "Burnt Reynolds" to the emotionally devastating "Song For The Loved", each composition demonstrates the band's mastery of dynamic storytelling through sound. Justin Greaves' vision, combined with contributions from the rotating cast of nearly 30 musicians who have graced the Phoenix roster, creates textures that are simultaneously melancholic and uplifting, primitive yet sophisticated.
