Bassist I.R. and guitarist S.M., who share vocal duties, weave a dense tapestry where yearning and loss become indistinguishable from transformation itself. The departure of drummer M.K. due to health issues during the early recording stages left a wound that you can feel in every reverberating chord and ghostly vocal line. And yet, what emerged from that painful process is their most complete work to date, an emotional rollercoaster that burns with a quiet, persistent fire. Atropa lives on the threshold where the irreversible begins — when the arrow is loosed and nothing can remain the same. There's a hypnotic quality here that recalls the weight of The Angelic Process and the textural depth of Mono, but E-L-R carve their own path through the darkness with a uniquely alpine coldness that's entirely their own.
