Background information about 'Out of the Garden (Re-Release)'

There are albums that simply demand your attention the moment the needle drops, and Crypt Sermon's Out of the Garden is exactly that kind of record. Philadelphia's finest purveyors of epic doom metal have returned with a sophomore effort that doesn't just build on their acclaimed debut — it tears the roof off the damn cathedral. From the first crushing riff, you know you're in for something special: towering, majestic, and drenched in a sense of grandeur that most bands can only dream of.

What makes Out of the Garden so utterly compelling is the way it balances sheer weight with genuine songcraft. The riffs are monolithic, the kind that feel like they've been carved from ancient stone, but there's a melodic sensibility running through these tracks that elevates everything to another level. Brooks Wilson's vocals soar with a theatrical, almost operatic conviction — think Messiah Marcolin meets a young Dio, but with a distinctly American edge. The rhythm section pummels and swings in equal measure, locking into grooves that feel both inevitable and thrilling. The production is warm, organic, and massive, giving every instrument room to breathe while maintaining that essential doom heaviness. Tracks unfold like dark liturgy, building from quiet, contemplative passages into earth-shaking crescendos that'll have you reaching for the volume knob again and again.

This isn't just a collection of songs — it's a journey, a pilgrimage through shadowed valleys and toward some distant, flickering light. The band wears their influences proudly (Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, Trouble) but never sounds derivative. Instead, Crypt Sermon have forged something that feels timeless, a record that could have been released in 1986 or 2026 and would sound equally vital. It's doom metal with ambition, with heart, with the kind of conviction that separates the truly great from the merely good.
