Background information about 'Diabolis Interium (Re-Release 2013)'

Some records don't knock politely. They kick the door off its hinges, and "Diabolis Interium" is exactly that kind of record. Dark Funeral arrived here at the top of their game, all frost-bitten tremolo riffs, blastbeats that feel like machine gun fire, and a vocal performance that sounds less like singing and more like something clawing its way out of the ground. This is Swedish black metal at its most relentless, and the remaster finally gives these songs the bite they always deserved.

What makes this re-release such a gift is the sheer volume of material packed in. The original album still stands tall, but the bonus cuts turn it into something close to a definitive document of the era. The re-recorded "An Apprentice of Satan" is a fascinating listen next to the 2000 version, and the cover songs are a genuine thrill, especially the Slayer and Mercyful Fate tributes, which reveal exactly where these musicians learned their craft. The live tracks capture the band at their most feral, and the extensive liner notes give real context to a chapter that deserves far more attention than it usually gets.
