Tracks like Serpents of Fame and Caverns of Fate showcase a band that has internalized the genre's DNA — think the technical ferocity of early Slayer, the melodic sensibility of Forbidden, and a touch of Death's progressive leanings — but filtered through a distinctly European lens. The production is crisp and punchy without sounding sterile, letting every divebomb solo and pummeling double-kick passage breathe. The Age of Hype is a particular standout, a venomous middle finger to the superficiality of modern times delivered with the kind of riff barrage that'll have you reaching for the repeat button. Meanwhile, The Run cranks up the tempo to breakneck speeds, and Opulent Disruption throws in some genuinely surprising twists that reveal new layers with each spin. By the time the haunting closer Dark Emptiness fades out, you're left wondering how a band this seasoned can still sound this hungry.
