Background information about 'In The Bondage Of Vice'

Some records arrive like a brick through a window, and "In The Bondage Of Vice" is exactly that kind of brick. Dead — the German trio of Volker, Dany and Ali — tracked this thing in April and May 2009 at Wet Studios, then handed it to Patrick W. Engel at Rape Of Harmonies for mastering, and the result is a scuzzy, beer-soaked slab of death metal and grindcore that never once pretends to be elegant. Thirteen tracks, barely half an hour, and not a single wasted second. The band rips through "Borderline Baby" and "Dixi Driver" with the kind of gleeful disregard for good taste that made the whole European extreme scene so much fun back then, while "Church Of Alcohol" stretches out to nearly five minutes and still feels like it's sprinting downhill with the brakes cut.

What makes this one stick is the humour buried under all that filth. Song titles like "Asstronaut", "Wild At Fart" and "I Want To Be A Hetero" tell you everything about the band's attitude — this is punk-spirited, tongue-in-cheek brutality, closer to a bar fight than a cathedral. The Dwarves cover "Free Cocaine" fits in perfectly, a sixty-second blast of pure snot and swagger, and "Watch Me Puke" is the sort of track that makes you want to check whether your speakers survived. The production is raw but punchy, all buzzing guitars, galloping drums and gang-shouted vocals, exactly how this stuff should sound.
