Background information about 'Mad Butcher'
Destruction were already raging beasts by the time "Mad Butcher" dropped in 1987, and this EP is the sound of a band hitting a raw, furious peak. Four tracks, zero filler, all teeth. The title cut is an absolute anthem of German thrash, that galloping riff and Schmier's snarling delivery burrowing straight into your skull. There's a reason this thing is still worshipped decades later: it's lean, vicious, and utterly undeniable.
The B-side doesn't let up for a second. "Reject Emotions" and "The Last Judgement" are pure, punishing Teutonic thrash, while "The Damned" closes things out with that classic Destruction stomp. This is thrash metal as it was meant to be played, fast, hungry, and completely uncompromising. Patrick W. Engel's mastering at Temple of Disharmony keeps the original 1987 sound intact, so what you get here is the EP exactly as it was meant to hit your speakers, just louder and nastier.
