Background information about 'Strike and Kill'
DevilDriver have never been a band to tiptoe around anything, and "Strike and Kill" lands like a boot to the chest from the very first riff. This is the sound of a group that has sharpened its blade over decades of touring and then decided to swing it harder than ever. The grooves are thick and swinging, the twin-guitar work cuts with surgical precision, and Dez Fafara still spits every line like he means to leave a mark. What makes this record so addictive is the balance: it is brutally heavy, yet there is a grim, almost anthemic melodicism running underneath that keeps pulling you back for another pass.
Ten-plus tracks of pure forward momentum, built for sweaty clubs and fists in the air. There are slow, menacing stomps that let the tension build, and then there are flat-out barnburners that never let off the gas. The rhythm section locks in tight, giving the whole thing a swagger that is equal parts menace and joy. It is the kind of album that reminds you why melodic death metal and groove metal still matter in 2026, and it does it without a single wasted second. Turn it up loud and let it do its work.
