Background information about 'Nothing But Death Remains (Re-issue 2024)'

Edge of Sanity's sophomore effort "Nothing But Death Remains" stands as a pivotal moment in the evolution of Swedish death metal, capturing the band during their transition from raw brutality to the more progressive soundscapes they'd later become famous for. Originally released in 1991, this remastered 2024 edition breathes new life into these eight tracks of melodic death metal mastery. The album showcases Dan Swanö's early compositional genius, blending crushing riffs with haunting melodies that would influence countless bands in the years to come.

The remaster brings out details that were previously buried in the original mix, particularly highlighting the intricate guitar work and the dynamic interplay between aggression and atmosphere. Tracks like "Tales..." and "Human Aberration" demonstrate the band's ability to craft memorable hooks within a framework of technical proficiency, while "Maze of Existence" and "The Dead" explore darker territories with their crushing weight and eerie melodies. This release serves as both a historical document and a testament to the enduring power of Swedish death metal's golden era.
