Man, when Fragments of Unbecoming dropped "The Art of Coming Apart" back in 2012, they basically threw down the gauntlet for anyone thinking German melodic death metal was getting soft. This is their fifth chapter - and what a brutal, melodic masterpiece it turned out to be!Dan Swanö himself called it "a killer album of melodic brutality", and honestly, when the legendary producer behind the mixing board at Unisound gives you that kind of praise, you know you've struck gold.In the spirit of early Soilwork, Dark Tranquility and Gardenian, The Art Of Coming Apart is as ferocious as they come, using the melodious guitars to sink the beast's claws into your skull on song after song.The album showcases the band's evolution from their earlier black metal-influenced work into pure melodic death metal territory. Tracks like "A Silence Dressed In Black" demonstrate their mastery of dynamics, building from haunting intros into crushing melodic assaults. The German precision meets Swedish melodic brutality formula works like magic here, creating something that feels both familiar and refreshingly intense.
