Background information about 'II - The Gatherer Of Fear And Blood'
Godskill return with a second full-length that feels like a crypt door grinding open. "II - The Gatherer Of Fear And Blood" is old-school death metal with its boots planted firmly in the dirt — no fuss, no polish, just riffs that hit like a sledgehammer and a rhythm section that refuses to let up. The band understands that the genre's real power lives in the space between a downtuned groove and a vocal that sounds like it's being dragged up from somewhere far below. Tracks like the title cut and "Demon Mother" trade barbaric mid-tempo stomps with sudden bursts of tremolo fury, while the closer "Becoming A God" stretches out into something almost ritualistic before the whole thing collapses in on itself.
What makes this record land is the sheer conviction. Nothing here feels phoned in — every transition, every pinch harmonic, every guttural bark is delivered like it matters. The production keeps things raw enough to breathe but clear enough that you can actually follow the riffs, which is exactly where this kind of death metal should sit. It's the sound of a band that has studied the classics and then decided to write their own scripture in blood.
