Background information about 'Nebunam'
There is something deeply unsettling about a debut that refuses to announce itself. Nebunam arrive with a self-titled record that feels less like a statement than a whisper from a cellar door left ajar, and that is precisely what makes it so gripping. Two tracks. That is all. But within "A Winter's Tale" and "Sturm" the band builds a whole frozen landscape, one where tremolo guitars cut like sleet against stone and the vocals sit buried somewhere beneath the frost, more texture than language. It is raw, it is cold, and it never once reaches for a hook it does not need.
What makes this thing stick is its patience. Nothing here is rushed toward a payoff, and nothing is padded out to fill a running time. The riffs circle and repeat like footsteps in deep snow, and when the tempo finally breaks open, it lands with real weight. The production keeps the grit intact, so the whole thing breathes like a rehearsal tape that somehow stumbled into greatness. For a label like Karge Welten Kunstverlag, this is exactly the kind of release that makes sense: uncompromising, handmade, and utterly unconcerned with trends. If you like your black metal austere, atmospheric, and stripped to the bone, this one will not let you go.
